Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) celebrated its 26th Annual Day at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi, Kathmandu on May 8, 2017 (Baisakh 25, 2074).
The chief guest honourable Minister of Agriculture Development Mr Gauri Shankar Chaudhary, inaugurated the special function by lightening the lamp (Panas).
In the occasion, four NARC staffs including technicians and admin staffs received plaque from chief guest for serving 25 years of their continued long service in the field of agriculture research and development.
More than 500 personnel were attended the event. At the function guests Dr. Suroj Pokhrel, Secretary of MoAD; Dr. Yubak Dhoj GC, Secretary of MoLD; council members; former executive directors; executive board members; CYMMIT country representative, IRRI representative to Nepal; retired scientists; senior officials from MoAD; entrepreneurs; journalists and others were also present.
On the occasion chief guest Mr. Chaudhary said that NARC has done a lot of research in the field of agriculture and natural resource management for livelihood improvement and food security. He further stated that NARC should maintain its reputation among the Nepalese farmers and stressed for the development of farmers friendly technologies. Dr. YR Pandey, Executive Director of NARC delivered welcome speech and highlighted the present scenario and future strategies with achievement of NARC.
The function was chaired by Dr. Buddhi Ratna Khadge, Secretary of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology. In the occasion, restructuring of NARC according to the need of the nation in changing context was emphasized by different guest speakers.
