One week-long rice monitoring tour was organized by National Rice Research Programme (NRRP), Hardinath, Dhanusha to monitor and evaluate the rice genotypes tested across the country. Rice Coordinator Dr. B.N. Chaudhary; Dr. Y.P. Giri, Director, Crops and Horticulture, NARC; Mr. H.K. Upreti, Chief of CPDD; Dr. Hari Bhandari from SQCC; Scientists and Technicians from different commodity programmes, divisions, research stations participated in the monitoring tour. Dr. B.N. Chaudhary, Rice Coordinator, NRRP welcomed to all the participants and highlighted the objective of the rice monitoring tour. Senior Scientist Mr. Dev Nidhi Tiwari highlighted the visit program and evaluation method of tested entries. He has distributed evaluation form to the monitoring team containing CVT and CFFT of upland rice, RLE, RLM, Normal, Fine and aromatic rice trails and multinational hybrid rice and research varieties. The monitoring team visited the NRRP, Hardinath; RARS, Tarahara, Sunsari; RARS, Parwanipur, Bara; NMRP Rampur, Chitwan; NWRP Bhairahawa and RARS Khajura, Nepalgunj. During the monitoring tour Dr. Y.P. Giri, Director, Crops & Horticulture, NARC and Mr. H.K. Upreti, Chief of CPDD gave the directives and guidelines for monitoring teams and Regional Director of RARS Parwanipur Mr. Tufel Akhtar and Regional Director of RARS Nepalgunj Mr. Bhanu Pokhrel highlighted the rice research activities carried out in their stations.
Monitoring program was concluded with hot discussion and warp-up with suggestion and feed back to the NRRP in RARS, Nepalgunj.
