CUAPGR Workshop Report

The 2nd National Workshop (after 23 years of the first workshop which was held in 1994) on Conservation and Utilization of Agricultural Plant Genetic Resources (CUAPGR) was held from 22 to 23 May 2017 in Mirabel Hotel, Dhulikhel. This workshop, inaugurated by Honorable Minister of Agricultural Development, Gauri Shankar Chaudhary, was organized jointly by National Agriculture Genetic Resources Center, Fruit Development Directorate, Department of Agriculture and Ministry of Agricultural Development. Theme of the workshop was agro-biodiversity for securing our lives with the scope of diversity and utilization status, agro-biodiversity conservation and utilization, angiosperms, agricultural plant genetic resources (APGRs) and national and international policies. The workshop date was chosen as 22 May is the International Biodiversity Day with the theme of biodiversity and sustainable tourism. 26th Annual Day Celeberated

Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) celebrated its 26th Annual Day at Nepal Academy Hall, Kamaladi, Kathmandu on May 8, 2017 (Baisakh 25, 2074).In the occasion, four NARC staffs including technicians and admin staffs received plaque from chief guest for serving 25 years of their continued long service in the field of agriculture research and development. NARC Journal Editshop held

The editshop of editorial board of Journal of Nepal Agricultural Research Council was held on 11-12 April 2017 at CPDD Hall, Khumaltar. The aim of editshop was to edit and review manuscripts and finalize for publication in volume 3. The editshop was chaired by Dr. Tek Bd. Gurung, Principal Scientist & Editor-in-Chief and made acquainted with the instructions of guidelines. Altogether 23 manuscripts were received for volume 3. NARC Administration Director, Hari Krishna Upreti, Principal Scientist was present on the 1st day. Senior Scientist & Associate Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Bal Krishna Joshi; Senior Scientist & Managing Editor Ram Bd. KC; Editors Dr. Samudra Lal Joshi, former Principal Scientist; Dr. Megh Raj Tiwari, Principal Scientist; Dr.Umesh Acharya, Senior Scientist; Jiban Shrestha, Scientist along with Scientist Mahesh Sapkota and Editorial Assistant Rishi Ram Adhikari were present in editshop. The manuscripts received from Nepal and abroad were checked for plagiarism with the help of reliable and authenticate software. Dr. Gurung focused and instructed, not to make any sort of compromise on the quality of journal. The journal is pride and valuable ornament of NARC institution. Some important features such as ORCID, archiving policy, online submission system are added and revised guidelines. Finally, 12 manuscripts were accepted for publication and two manuscripts were rejected.
