National Outreach Research Centre


Outreach Research Division (ORD) was established in 1995 AD under Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) later renamed as National Outreach Research Centre. The major objective is to enhance linkage between research, agriculture extension and farmers. It also boosts the partnership of public and private stakeholders, technology generators, local government and service providers.  Furthermore, NORC has been coordinating outreach research activities in more than 100 OR sites under the command areas of Agricultural Research Directorate and Agricultural Research Stations in various agro-ecological domains across the country. It has been working with the concept of participatory technology development which is an interactive and actor oriented approach consisting of researchers, local technicians, farmers, and local government.

Verification and dissemination of agricultural technologies to farmer fields through outreach research sites and local government


  • Develop strategies and criteria for outreach research and nationwide outreach sites management
  • Organize workshops and meetings for technology compilation as well as identifying researchable issues
  • Monitor outreach research activities
  • Compile technologies and facilitate its hand over to local government and farmers
  • Facilitate residential trainings for entrepreneur farmers
